Vieillot's Crested Fireback is a pheasant species that is native to Southeast Asia, particularly to the countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. This species is named after French naturalist Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot.

Vieillot's Crested Fireback is a medium-sized pheasant that can grow up to 32 inches in length. The male has a distinctive crest of long, iridescent black feathers that can grow up to 4 inches in length. The crest feathers are erected when the bird is excited, giving it a dramatic and striking appearance.

The male's body feathers are dark brown, with iridescent green, blue, and purple highlights. The head, neck, and breast are a rich dark blue, while the face behind the crest is black. The legs and feet of the male are yellow, with the bill being black.

The female Vieillot's Crested Fireback is much less colorful than the male. The female has a reddish-brown head, neck, and body feathers, with a slightly lighter underbelly. The legs and feet of the female are also yellow.

Vieillot's Crested Fireback is an omnivore and feeds on a variety of foods, including seeds, fruits, insects, and small invertebrates. This species prefers dense forests and is most commonly found in the lowlands of Southeast Asia.
