The Karan Swiss is a breed of cattle originating from Switzerland. They are primarily used for dairy production, known for their high milk yields and good butterfat content. They have a distinctive brown and white color pattern, with a sturdy and compact build. The breed is well adapted to mountain pastures and harsh climates, making them well suited for dairy farming in Switzerland and other countries with similar conditions. They are also known for their docile temperaments and good health. The breed is a result of crossbreeding between Swiss Brown and Swiss Simmental cattle. The mature cows typically weigh between 550 to 600 kg (1200 to 1300 lbs.), while a bull can weigh between 1000 to 1200 kg (2200 to 2600 lbs.). During a lactation period, which lasts for about 305 days, a cow can produce approximately 6,000 to 7,000 kg of milk with a butterfat content of around 4%.
