About Bhirum HorsesAbout Bhirum Horses

Bhirum Ponies (also known as Nigerian Ponies) are a dwarf horse from the northern regions of Nigeria. They are thought to be a descendant of the little known Poney Mousseye of Cameroon. They are also thought to come from Barb horses which were brought to Nigeria by Nomads. These animals were bred to local ponies and the resulting animal became the Bhirum Pony.

They are a large pony breed, although they are occasionally referred to as small horses. They are incredibly versatile and can resist the heat of their environment.
