About Damascus GoatsAbout Damascus Goats

Damascus Goats, also recognized as Aleppo, Halep, Baladi, Damascene, Shami, or Chami Goats, are primarily raised in Syria and Lebanon, predominantly for their milk production.

Belonging to the Nubian type, Damascus Goats are distinguished by their long hair and commonly exhibit shades of red or brown, although they can also display pied or grey coloration. The breed may possess either horned or polled characteristics, offering flexibility in breeding preferences and management practices.

One notable Damascus goat, named Qahr, achieved acclaim by winning the prestigious title of "Most Beautiful Goat" at the Mazayen al-Maaz competition held in Riyadh on June 13, 2008. This recognition highlights the breed's aesthetic appeal and cultural significance in livestock competitions.
