About Armenian Semicoarsewool SheepAbout Armenian Semicoarsewool Sheep

Armenian Semicoarsewool sheep, primarily found in Armenia, are a versatile dual-purpose breed renowned for their medium-wool fleece and fat tail. Developed through selective breeding, they represent a blend of Rambouillet and Lincoln sheep with Balbas sheep, resulting in a breed prized for both milk and meat production.

These sheep are typically medium to large in size, boasting a predominantly white coat with a matching white face. Both rams and ewes of this breed are generally polled, adding to their streamlined appearance. Mature ewes stand at an average height of around 26 inches at the withers, while rams tend to be slightly taller, averaging around 29 inches. In terms of weight, these sheep have an average live body weight of approximately 85 kg for rams and 55 kg for ewes.

Armenian Semicoarsewool sheep are well adapted to their native environments, thriving in the varied landscapes of Armenia. Their robust constitution and adaptable nature make them well-suited to a range of climates and grazing conditions, ensuring their continued relevance in agricultural practices within the region.
