Network of Animal Websites 'Livestock Of The World' Target of Cyber Attack

April 2017. EAGLE POINT, OR.

Recently ranchers across America and Canada have started to rely on Livestock Of The World websites to sell their animals. Livestock of the World is a network of websites created to help ranchers buy and sell their animals. Currently the networks include LivestockOfAmerica.com for American ranchers and LivestockOfCanada.com for Canadian ranchers.

Unfortunately, on Tuesday April 11, 2016 Livestock of the World joined the ranks of Microsoft, Sony, T-Mobile, and J.P. Morgan and was hacked.

Since Livestock of America markets to major livestock industries, it gets animals of numerous types in front of ranchers that normally wouldn't consider a particular type of animal for their ranch. "For instance, a small cattle rancher that lists their bred cows for sale is likely to take a few minutes to check out llamas, goats or sheep. "Or a horse rancher who's looking to buy a Stallion may consider looking at a few high-end Suri alpacas while they are on the site," says Andresen.

"We take internet security very seriously and have outstanding security in place," said John Andresen, President Of Livestock Of The World, Inc." However, this was a targeted attack by a skilled hacker. We have identified how they were able to get past our security, and the issue has been resolved. The hacker was not able to take any customer information and we never store credit card information," said Andresen.

However, a huge amount of data was deleted and it will take some time for the company to restore all lost information.

Livestock of the World, Inc. is a small startup created on January, 1, 2017 by the ANDRESENGROUP, an Oregon web development firm. "We first launched LivestockOfAmerica.com as part of The ANDRESENGROUP in 2014," says Andresen. "And we decided to form the new business Livestock Of The World, Inc. with the goal of launching livestock marketplaces worldwide."

"Livestock of America looks great," said Sheri Hewitt of Woodland Meadows LLC, an Oregon Livestock Ranch. The website has a clean, modern, easy-to-use design that makes it inviting and easily accessible for all.

Livestock Of The World, Inc. launched LivestockOfCanada.com and relaunched LivestockOfAmerica.com with a new look in Dec. 2016. At the same time they also launched the central hub website www.LivestockOfTheWorld.com. Soon they plan to launch similar websites in Africa, Asia, Australia, The Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Mexico, New Zealand, and South America.

Livestock of the World urges their members to be patient, and understand that some of their information on the website may be missing or out of date. "We are updating information as quickly as possible from backups," said Andresen.

"It was quite a blow to be attacked like this just when we are starting to roll out more website so we can help additional ranchers worldwide to sell their animals" says Andresen. "But we will be completely back and expanding our services very soon."
