Belgian Warmbloods are bred distinctively as a show horsernthat excels in dressage and jumping arenas. They are basically the mixture ofrnmany breeds with the lighter Belgian agricultural horses as their base. In thern1950s these agricultural horses were mixed with Gelderlanders for greater sizernand strength. In the 1960s Selle Francais and Hanoverian were introduced. Theyrngave the Belgian Warmblood greater athletic ability and freedom of movement.rnThe Thoroughbred and Anglo-Arabian horses introduced to the breed conformationrnand speed.rnrn 

rnrnThey stand around 16.2 hands high. Their head is alert andrnfull of quality, mainly due to its Anglo-Arabian influence. Their withers arernwell placed and their shoulders are of good riding type. Their body is compactrnwith good depth and a back of perfect length. They are known to have correctrnlegs and sound hooves.rnrn 

Due to the result of careful and specific breeding, thernBelgian Warmblood is becoming increasingly popular in a country that has beenrndominated by heavy horse breeding in the past. Over 4,000 Belgian Warmbloodsrnare born every year. In addition to being excellent competition horses, theyrnare also known for their excellent temperament.
