About Miniature Silky Fainting GoatsAbout Miniature Silky Fainting Goats

Miniature Silky Fainting Goats are a small-sized breed of goat that are colorful and have long flowing coats and an abundance of facial hair such as bangs, beards and muffs on the cheeks, giving them a Silky Terrier-like appearance. They should be physically balanced and proportionate, with a sleek, elegant appearance. There is no minimum size for either sex, however, does ideally, should be 22.5 inches or under at the withers and must not exceed 23.5 inches. Bucks ideally should be 23.5 inches or under at the withers and must not exceed 25 inches. Any color or combination of colors is acceptable.

The coat is the defining characteristic of the breed and is quite important. Ideally, the coat is a single coat that should be consistently long, straight and flowing, draping over the entire body, reaching nearly to the ground. A slight wave to the coat is acceptable. The coat should have a silky, high luster appearance and, when touched, it should feel smooth and silky, not dry or brittle.  Angora-type or Cashmere-type fiber is not desirable. The coat should include an abundance of chest, neck and facial hair. Ideally, they will have long bangs and cheek muffs that cover the eyes giving them a Silky Terrier-like appearance.
There is no weight standards or limits on the goats but the bucks are likely to be somewhere between 60 and 80 pounds when mature. We do not market them as meat goats but rather as competition animals. Their lean, sleek frames do not lend to good meat animals.
