About Ciavenasca GoatsAbout Ciavenasca Goats

Ciavenasca Goats belong to the alpine group of goats and are from Val Chiavenna (province of Sondrio – Lombardia, Italy) where they are commonly reared. They are very suitable to mountainous grazing.

They are 75-80 cm high at their withers. They are variously colored with a short hair coat. They are horned.

They are a dairy breed, but they are reared for meat as well (kids and animals to the final stage). A typical by-product is “Viulìn de càvra de Ciavéna” from salted spiced thigh and shoulder, aged for 2-3 months.
