We will start the NewChip Business Accelerator next Wednesday (you can see more about the accelerator at www.newchip.com). While participating in the accelerator, we will be focused on developing business documents and getting in touch with investors; so this week has been focused mainly on getting some remaining technical issues resolved: Implementing secure certificates to websites, resolving website bugs, etc.

Weekly Highlight - the Livestock Of The World eCosystem

Livestock of the World is more than just a website; it is a set of interconnecting websites and functionalities. Below is a very basic outline of the eCosystem and how it is all connected:

The LOTW DB

At the center of the eCosystem is the LOTW DB (Livestock Of The World DataBase). The LOTW DB is a centralized database that contains almost all of the data that is used by the eCosystem. By having a centralized database we can almost eliminate the redundant data entry that ranchers currently have when using multiple websites.

www.LivestockofTheWorld.com

www.LivestockOfTheWorld.com is for anything that is used by LOTW users anywhere. This includes:
  • User administration.
  • Association / club administration.
  • Association/ Club directory.
  • Livestock Breed wiki - which will include the most extensive list of breed information on the web.
  • Useful agricultural information.

  • Marketplace Websites

The livestock marketplace websites include animal sales listing for a particular county or region. So far, we have created www.LivestockOfAmerica.com and www.LivestockOfCanada.com. After they are launched and gain traction then we will launch LivestockOfEurope.com. We also plan to potentially launch in Australia, New Zealand, South America, and more.

    Association Websites

We are creating an association website template (currently about 50% done). The template will be used to create websites for livestock associations. Associations will be charged for yearly hosting and maintenance but not for their initial website. The data used by these websites will be stored in the LOTW DB; so when ranches enter their information for their marketplace website (animal listings, ranch information, etc.) it will immediately be available on their association websites, and vice versa.

    Ranch Websites

We currently have a Beta version of a livestock ranch website template that has already been used on a number of customer websites The majority of the website data is stored in the LOTW DB - again to reduce redundant data entry.

    Conclusion

Currently, ranches that use the web for marketing have to enter the same information repeatedly on many websites. By implementing an eCosystem we can greatly save ranchers time.
